Gyaarah Gyaarah Review: Slow start, but a gripping second-half!

Where to Watch: ZEE5

Cast: Raghav Juyal, Kritika Kamra, Dhairya Karwa and others
Director: Umesh Bist
The popular Korean series adaptation 'Gyaarah Gyaarah' is an 8-episode action thriller with an element of 'past-present' that takes its time setting the stage but delivers a gripping experience to the audience once it gains momentum.
The initial episodes feel slow paced and one might as well say that it could have been much better as a five or six episode series. However, it guarantees an edge-of-the-seat experience from the fifth episode.
Gyaarah Gyaarah revolves around solving the 15-year-old murder mystery of a young girl, Aditi.
Set in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand, the plot gains momentum when the local government introduces a new law requiring the closure of cases older than 15 years. This law pushes the police to solve Aditi's murder before the law comes into force. Can they do it in time?
In a unique twist that highlights the entire series, Inspector Yug Arya, played by 'Raghav Juyal' stumbles upon a walkie-talkie that lets him communicate with a police officer from the 90s, who helps him solve cases in the present. But, they can only talk at 11:11 PM for 60 seconds. Can they race against time to uncover the truth behind Aditi's death?
The cinematography and settings are well-executed, providing a realistic backdrop that blends in with the storytelling. However, the director had stored much information for the next season.
The web series may start slowly, but it’s worth sticking with for the rewarding payoff in the second half.
