Neer Dose movie review: 'Sex' for thought, a dish not all can digest!
Director: Vijaya Prasad
Cast: Dattanna, Jaggesh, Hariprriya, Suman Ranganathan
After much difficulty in preparing this reel dish, the makers have finally managed to serve it to the 'adult' audience. So, after all talks about the making of it, is it really tasteful and that the audience above 18 years simply shouldn't miss trying 'Neer Dose' at least for once? The answer would be in affirmative but as it comes with a word of caution that not everyone can digest this dosa, is the only worrying factor who may feel a little uncomfortable with over'dose' of double entendre throughout 135 minutes of 'sex for thought' venture.
With dialogues as the main ingredient in the batter excessively mixed with sexual innuendo, the director has cooked his theory of life through four main characters. Of the four, the three characters played by Jaggesh, Dattana and Hariprriya makes some sense which are both simple and complex. In a different perspective, Vijaya Prasad has his own profound way of talking about life while staying away from preachy and philosophical touch. But his frequent thoughts ridden over sex jokes is too much to handle as everything and anything has a sex connection to it.
One works as a hearse van driver (Jaggesh), the other is a retired officer (Dattanna) - both bachelors and living a lonely life. Their life takes a turn when they meet a bar dancer/call girl (Hariprriya). The first half is more about how the three meet each other for an unusual friendship. Their background saga continues as they are on road trip to Surathkal near Mangaluru.
Jaggesh and Dattanna, the two fine actors are yet again at their best performances and a treat while they make it look very natural. Hariprriya as Kumuda is the real change over for the actress, who has pulled it with ace marks. Irrespective of how 'Neer Dose' turns out to be at the end of the day before the box office, Hariprriya's effortless acting will be an everlasting remark in her career. No wonder, even if she manages to win an award or two for this daring one.
The flashbacks are repetitive and the slow narrative tests the patience but with few top scenes which evoke emotions are a definite plus points. When the two bachelors, take the bar dancer for offering pooja at the bore well site, and few from the flashback characters are brilliantly poised ones. Suman Ranganathan who plays the love interest role, has 'grown' much younger. Seems like she has some magical potion which keeps her from getting old.
Sex is a important part of 'life' for sure but too much of it can lead to disaster. Watch this adult rated 'Neer Dose' when best enjoyed with egg curry. Definitely not for the vegetarian minds!
