Mr Bachchan losing steam, draws mere Rs 5 cr plus?

Ravi Teja’s much-hyped film 'Mr Bachchan' has reportedly drawn lukewarm response at ticket windows in the two Telugu states. “The film just managed to collect Rs 5 crore plus net collections, despite being a holiday season and it has to go a long way,” says a distributor. He claims that word-of-mouth publicity for the film has been discouraging enough. “Audience who watched the film aren’t sharing exciting moments in the film and it is denting its footfalls,” he adds.

Despite being the remake of the hit Hindi film ‘Raid’, director Harris Shankar failed to deliver a money spinner since he made a lot of changes to the original and killed its soul. “Ajay Devgan movie was hard-hitting and thematic stuff, while Harris tried to make it star-centric and added more fights and songs and it failed to strike a chord with masses in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,’ he points out.

Even actor Ravi Teja who was pinning hopes on this remake would be disappointed since the collections are discouraging and not exciting enough and collections started dropping from Friday. “It has to collect another Rs 18 crores in Telugu states and it has to pick up drastically,” he concludes.
