UV makeup for a cutting-edge video
Independent musician Jeffrey Jonathan is back with his latest single Naatkal, from his music team Glassmates. After a successful stint with music videos like Lipstick, Variya, Adiye, and many more, he is all set to repeat his success with Naatkal. “We released the teaser a couple of days back and are overwhelmed with the response we got. It touched about 50K view on Facebook and 3K view on YouTube,” says an elated Jeffrey.
The full-fledged musical dance video explores two facets of dance — lyrical hip-hop and contemporary. “I wanted the audience to have a fresh feel watching this video and hence, we have played with both technology and style,” he adds.
“The most striking aspect of this video will be the use of ultra violet (UV) makeup,” reveals Jeffrey. “The use of UV makeup complicates the shooting process, as it requires a separate lighting set. However, we still strived hard to come up with the end result. This makeup also drains water from a person’s body — hence the shoot could not be prolonged for more than ten minutes, lest the artist became dehydrated,” he explains.
Ask him how different UV makeup is from regular, and he says — “It would look similar to the characters that appear in the film Avatar.” Jeffrey also adds, “This will be a new experience for everyone and will transport us to another world. Makeup artist Sharath has done justice to his work.”
Naatkal, which was released yesterday, stars Sharath, who is also the choreographer for the video, along with model Swetha Sridhar.
