Arundhati Roy, Romila Thapar at Kerala Literature fest

M.T. Vasudevan Nair to launch event that transformed Kozhikode to literary hub.

KOZHIKODE: Promising a literary fiesta for people, the third edition of the Kerala Literary Festival organised by the ‘DC Kizhakkemuri Foundation’ will begin on Thursday.

Noted writer Arundhati Roy and historian Romila Thapar will be the star attraction on the inaugural day, a press release said. Jnanpith laureate M.T. Vasudevan Nair will inaugurate the event on Thursday.

Festival director K. Sachidanandan will give an introductory speech on the evolution of KLF. A. Pradeepkumar MLA will preside over the function. Heralding the festival a Qawali Night was held on Wednesday night.

The four-day festival which started in 2016 has been instrumental in transforming the city into a literary hub as many publishing houses started organising literature festivals.

This is the third one in the year though the other two failed to prove a hit like the KLF. The venue, the city beach, is the one of the key attractions of KLF where hundreds will throng for four days to give ear to the big names of literature.

Most of the big names from all streams of Malayalam literature including M.T. Vasudevan Nair, T. Pathmanabhan, K.R. Meera, Sachithan-andan, will attend the festival. More than two hundred eminent personalities will interact with audience in five venues including Ezhuthola, Aksharam, Thoolika, Vakku and Vellithira.

Writer T. Pathmanabhan will ruminate on ‘women of my stories’ in the face- to-face with audience on Friday.
