A Bengaluru-based three piece acoustic band has been making waves and ripples with their live performances in the city. Threeory’s unique style of music comes from embracing the most beloved genres– pop, rock, jazz and even blues. Arun Paul (guitar), Rahul Joseph (vocals and cajone) and Dennis (violin) have an incredible effect on their audience, charming them with groovy twists on classic numbers!
Threeory does not adhere to a specific style or genre and they are more than happy to play what the crowd loves, from pop to rock even jazz and blues! “We don’t stick to a particular genre. We like to experiment with our sound. When we play, we want to give our listeners a good all round experience. We have our own compositions as well as covers of old classics with a mixture of genres. The variety in embracing all sorts of genres is our signature style,” says Dennis.
A common friend, who wanted to put together a choir for a wedding introduced these three guys to each other. Dennis, Arun and Rahul eventually hit it off and began playing as a band. Interestingly, Rahul came up with the name Threeory when the band began getting a great response after their first couple of shows, “Dennis had exams at the time and he did really not like this one theory subject. We mashed together the word three with the word theory, and that’s how we began calling ourselves Threeory,” he says. Even though Threeory has just touched the six month mark, their three piece act has been getting incredible response from gigs in the city.
The three of them have their separate musical influences. For Dennis it has to be the English band Flash, while Arun loves Backstreet Boys and Rahul is a hardcore Michael Jackson fan. Threeory’s latest addition, Infant Adarsh who joins them on a guitar idolises Eric Clapton. But when they play together, it’s about the bond and common love they share for music. “Initially, when we started, we were trying to build the bridge. We got really comfortable, because even though we all have different tastes in music, everything culminates on stage as we are trying to have the best time and give our listeners a good experience,” says Arun. The foresight for Threeory includes takes their music and undying passion for it to new levels, work on their original compositions, playing for new and bigger crowds!
