Popular South Korean girl band BLACKPINK’s Jennie hints at likelihood exit from the group. Her video “For Blinks” raises speculation that she might terminate her contract with YG Entertainment, the company promoting the band.
Recently, BLACKPINK celebrated its seventh anniversary. Marking the milestone, BLACKPINK stocked their official online store with a wide range of commemorative merchandise.
Significantly, netizens observed that the “COLLECTTIONS” section of the store only features the names of Jisoo, Rose, and Lisa, while Jennie’s name is conspicuously absent.
Speculation is rife that Jennie may not renew her contract, which is set to expire this August. In mainland China, the tagline “Jennie suspected to be terminating contract with YG Entertainment” has gained traction on social media platforms.
However, the company has not responded to the speculations.
Adding fuel to the rumours, Jennie recently uploaded a video on her social media platform with the caption “For BLINKs.”
In the video, Jennie not only made heart gestures but also waved goodbye leading to speculation among BLACKPINK fans about her departure. Netizens also showed their support to Jennie, congratulating her on freeing herself from difficulties.
Meanwhile, some even criticised YG Entertainment for ‘neglecting Jennie for the last five years by not releasing any new songs for her. They said that Jennie’s first solo single received significantly less favourable treatment, compared to the other members.
Now, it is to be seen if Jennie would remain with the promoter company.
