Following in the footsteps of GV Prakash is AR Rahman’s other nephew, AH Kaashif, who is coming up with a touching music video Po Po Yen — The Pain of Love. The song, which will release today, will feature AR Rahman’s niece, Bhavani Sre, in the video, and has been directed by Ashwin Ravindran, who worked as the associate director in Raja Rani. The most happening singer in the city, Sid Sriram, has crooned this soulful song. The makers are upbeat that the single would be a treat for everyone and that it would be different from other romantic
songs.
“I’m very happy and satisfied with the output. Working with Sid was terrific. Though only happy songs release on Valentine’s Day, this will be about the pain of love and rejection! I’m also eagerly waiting for my uncle (AR Rahman) to listen to it and give his feedback,” shares Kaashif.
Speaking about his blossoming music career and his future plans, he says, “This is my third single. Javed Ali and Vishal Dadlani had crooned my first two songs respectively. I feel extremely lucky to have worked with such stalwarts early in my career. Though I can’t reveal much about my debut in K’town, all I can say is that it will happen this year.”
On what February 14 means to him, he jokingly says, “I’m single — so I don’t know much about it! But Po Po Yen will express what love means to me.”
On the other hand, director Ashwin claims that this song would be Sid’s best — “He sung this song before becoming famous — and I can assure you that this will be his best! As Kaashif said, the single will touch your hearts — as it is about how a guy would pursue his love even after rejection. Mohan Raj, who has written lyrics for chartbusters like Kanave Kanave (from David), is the lyricist for this song as well.”
Ashwin concludes by saying, “I’m currently working as an associate director for VIP 2 and I’m planning to venture as a director in Kollywood very soon. This song would be a perfect launch not only for Kaashif, but for me as well.”
