Soul stirring tribute to those who've lost their lives in road accidents

26-year-old Prajoth Anotonio D'sa who composed tribute to those who've lost their lives in road accidents speaks up about what inspired him

A couple of gruesome accidents, where he lost his dear ones, led this musician to create a song in memory of accident victims. Meet 26-year- old Prajoth Anotonio D’sa, who has composed a soul stirring tribute to those who’ve lost their lives in road accidents.

Talking about the Konkani track, Prajoth says, “A couple of years back, I lost my childhood friend in a bike accident. Recently, my friend who was riding pillion with her sister, lost her life when the bike skid and a bus went over her head. In another unfortunate incident, my former classmate’s car tumbled and he expired. The loss of my dear ones drove me towards creating the song Udon Podon in memory of road accident victims.”

Prajoth reached out to his poet friend Wilson and music composer Vanil and the trio worked on creating the tune which has moved many listeners to tears. The track is a conversational one in which the singer croons as if he were talking to the road and asking it to have mercy on the people who travel on it. “I vividly remember the morning at the studio when we were recording the song – my heart felt heavy and my eyes were moist,” says Prajoth, who plans to release the song in Kannada and Hindi too. “I’m looking for writers. I want to reach out to more people through the Kannada and Hindi versions,” he says.

As a singer, the talented bloke from Udupi has crooned a plethora of songs in his mother tongue Konkani. “There are a lot of individual albums coming out in Konkani. I have an album of my own too. I’ve also sung several Acapella songs and covers,” says the software engineer, who moved from Mangalore to Bengaluru two years ago.

What are his future plans in the music industry? “Right now, I’m doing a couple of jingles and also trying to make a mark in the regional film industry. I’m also composing music for short films,” says Prajoth.
