Bengalureans, are you game for some music lessons? Perhaps, you should be! On June 21, the city will open doors to unbridled music love of sorts! As part of Make Music Day celebrations, electronica studio music producer, SnowShoe will be hosting a free pop-up street studio open to the public, to channelise the musician in you.
Pegged as the first-of-its-kind event to be held in the country, it marks its first innings in namma city. In a candid conversation, Rahul Nadkarni, Sky Rabbit’s lead and founder of SnowShoe, tells us more about this unique event.
“Everyone has a musical side to them and it’s great when you can shed your inhibitions, and get involved in the process of creating music. The idea was to give everyone in the city a leeway to invoke the musician in them — Even if you are just an amateur and have no background in playing or voice recording. Making music is a therapeutic experience and a great way to bring communities together. And I believe, the idea helps you express yourself in a way you probably wouldn’t have imagined,” states Rahul.
The global event will be celebrated in 700 cities and 170 countries on same day (June 21) worldwide. The feat will feature countless classic and new age music genres, ranging from classical to folk, hip hop to Bollywood, jazz and rock.
There will be a collation of the audio from the participants of all age groups, to culminate it into a special audio track by the electronica project; in an attempt to highlight the music spirit of Bengaluru.
Stating how the city’s metropolitan vibe and its copious and versatile music culture fuels the growth of such activities, Rahul adds, “In a city that has so many international and national artistes coming down every month to play, it isn’t hard to figure how open we are to music. This is a great opportunity for us and I am glad that I am hosting this. The idea is to get maximum people to come together and celebrate music, which I’m truly hopeful about since we’re a music-loving lot. Aren’t we?”
Giving an insight into what to consider before going ahead to participate, Rahul signs off by stating “The only rule to remember is that there aren’t any! The local participants can be just about anyone who visits and records music at the pop-up studio.
