Dynamite DJ is a Stalvart'
One right move is all it takes to set everything else you want into motion! Bengaluru has a vivid party scene with so many artistes and venues. Adding to this list, DJ Stalvart John has been working his way up in the party route! Stalvart’s upcoming four-city tour in India with German producer Raijko Mueller aka Isolée and other prominent Indian artistes puts him on the map. In a candid chat with Bengaluru Chronicle he tells more about his foray into the Dj-ing scene, his interests and the sweet rewards of music...
There was no looking back for Stalvart when he discovered Robert Miles and Prodigy in 2003. “I took my first steps towards music as a promoter in my hometown, Cochin. With a lot of support from friends early on, I started regular podcasts. In no time, gigs started becoming more frequent and things spiralled into production and what not. There have been moments of doubt but today I feel hard work pays off eventually.”
Bengaluru happened to be a game-changer for Stalvart with him now having his own radio show called Dynamite Disco Club on India’s first community radio, Boxout FM. His productions with the international label Wind Horse Records will see him showcasing his tracks at multiple venues in India during November especially at the Magnetic Fields festival in Rajasthan. His spins are inspired by the likes of Pink Floyd, Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terje, Joey Negro, Fela Kuti, and more. He adds, “I most play Disco and House music in all forms, but I do occasionally wander into techno and other kinds of dance music. I like to think of my style as happy, warm, tropical and easy to dance.”
He divulges on the new party series that will take him on the road with Isolee, “I am really excited to be a part of the first Oscillate tour. The team has been working hard on it. Quality control is the need of the hour for the party scene in India — from the sound system to the curation of most venues, there is definitely space for improvement. The payment system here is something nobody talks about, but it’s definitely the biggest issue with delays of two to three months becoming common practice,” he says.
It takes guts to follow your passion but Stalvart proves that there really is nothing better than you can do for yourself, than listening to your heart. “If I wasn’t doing what I was doing now, I would have completed my mechanical engineering and done a regular 9 to 5 job. It’s a pain to even think about it,” he shares. Although his music occupies most of his time, Stalvart admits that he is a huge movie buff and absolutely loves watching documentaries.
