Don’t only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets said Beethoven, whom Mithun admires the most. Mithun Eshwar follows this philosophy with his heart and soul.
Music is in his blood, he can skillfully play eight instruments and has a working knowledge of four others too.
Mithun’s Jaaruthiruve song from the Kannada movie Soojidaara has received over 30,000 hits on YouTube. This budding music director and violinist who made his debut with Soojidhaara in Sandalwood hails from Kerala but is based in Bengaluru.
A repertoire of four songs in Malayalam, two in Tamil and two in Kannada have paved way for his success in the south-Indian film industry. He has varied experience as the keyboard programmer having worked with prominent music directors for numerous movies. Mithun’s current interest lies in pursuing music in Sandalwood.
His band The Mithun Eshwar Project has conducted several music tours to places like UK, Dubai, US and more. He says, “Songs picked from languages like Malyalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and folk songs are my preference to perform for the listeners. Language is never a barrier for music. With a passion to learn and master the art, I am blessed with well-wishers who help me understand the lyrics and sing with the right emotions.”
His father K Madhu was his first guru who has laid down a set of principles for Mithun to follow to this day. Piano and violin are his utmost favourite instruments to play and he has performed as a keyboard programmer for almost 75 movies in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada industry.
When asked about his unforgettable experience, he said’ “I felt so great when I got a chance to work with legendary singer Mrs Janaki. But unfortunately that was her last song in this world of melody. I feel wonderful for being a part of her last song.”
His list of achievements are commendable. Mithun is the top grade winner in piano and violin from London Trinity College. His father who is also his guru is excellent in piano, violin and guitar while there are also others, Sankaranarayanan, Prasad Kurian, TH Lalitha, Michael Kellet, and Father Thomas who taught him the secrets in the world of music.
Mithun has set up his own studio after he moved to the city from Chennai post his MBA. “With my performance on the malyalam music channel, Kappa TV, performing A R Rahman medleys with my violin and my songs in the movies, I have become popular with the audience. The overwhelming response for these videos on YouTube gave me the much-needed boost,” he says.
With few other offers in hand, Mithun is also a full-time music teacher at the Sharanya Narayani International School. His striking album I’m not lonely is the first violin trance track produced by Sony Music. His significant work was recognised when Mithun was nominated for the state and Filmfare awards for the movie 10 kalpanakal.
He also said his experience with the first movie Soojidaara went so well that the local the audience has accepted him wholeheartedly.
