The Boi' is here to rock!
TroyBoi aka Troy Henry, who is one of the most promising music producers in the world today, is currently in India for a four-city tour — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. The London-based musician has so far produced tracks with some of the most celebrated names in the industry, and his collaboration with Flosstradamus for ‘Soundclash’ turned out to be one of the biggest anthems in recent times.
‘The king of trap’ is also known for his versatility as his musical tracks are from numerous genres and he, in fact, brands it as ‘My Style’! TroyBoi, having completed his other three gigs, will be performing in Chennai on July 26. In a conversation with DC, the musician opens up about the response he has gotten for his current tour, his love for Indian music, his upcoming album and more.
“The country is beautiful, it’s amazing! I’m obviously thrilled to be here as I always wanted to perform in India. I’ve already been getting a lot of messages and responses for the shows and I assure all you fans out there, it would be a crazy experience for you (in Chennai)!” TroyBoi starts off in an excited note.
As the conversation moves towards his knowledge about Indian music, he states that this tour would help him understand it more — “I love Indian music. When I hear it, I recognise it, but I don’t remember the names and the artistes. Now that I’m here, I want to explore the music scene and I want to know more about Indian musicians. This trip, in many ways, would be educational for me as well.”
Speaking about his collaborations with major artistes, TroyBoi says, “I’m always open for collaborations. It’s never about the name — only the product matters. As long as both I and the other person are passionate about the work, I don’t think twice.”
When we queried him if he knew Soundclash would become such a huge hit during the production phase, he says, “It might sound crazy… but honestly, when I made the track, I knew that it would be a big hit. I’m really grateful for the response!” TroyBoi is also happy with how his upcoming album Left is Right has been shaping up and even considers it to be his “finest work till date.”
He states that ‘The Mantra Tour’, which he did earlier, will always remain close to his heart. “It was such a huge success. I think bringing in multiple elements made it really good… as in the show was filled with stunning visuals, live players, ballet dancers and even aerialists,” TroyBoi muses.
Sharing with us on what he wishes to explore in India, apart from music, he quickly responded, “Food… I’ve been in the country for a few days now, and I’ve been eating like crazy (laughs).” He added, “I also very much like to know about varied cultures. I am even planning to visit local markets and interact with the people there!”
