New singer in the spotlight
Anne Amie didn’t have second thoughts about resigning her job as a creative analyst in Yahoo, Bengaluru, when she got a chance to become a playback singer. Music was her childhood passion and within months she proved her choice was the right one.
With a slew of projects, including Telugu films, lined up for release and her song Kilivathilin Chare Nee for the film Pullikaran Staraa getting a good response, Anne has no qualms about her career switch.
“It was an unexpected change in my life. Music director Shaan Rahman saw a Hindi demo song I had sung with one of the participants from Idea Star Singer and he called me to sing Ethu Meghamaari in the film Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho. After hearing the song, M. Jayachandran sir gave me a chance to work with him for the film Pullikaran Staraa,” says Anne.
Anne, who hails from Thrissur and is settled in Bengaluru, says that working with Jayachandran was an amazing experience. “There was a lot to learn and I understood this was just the beginning. Only a handful of debutantes get the chance to work with a legendary musician and I am happy to be one of them. I believe it is God’s grace and I have changed a lot after the experience,” Anne explains.
The singer has also tried her luck in Telugu for a couple of upcoming movies. “I have sung along with Sachin Warrier for the film Prematho Mee Karthik. The music is done by Shaan. I have sung for Bijibal, Gopi Sunder and debutant Raakesh Ravi in upcoming projects as well. Singing in Telugu was a real challenge. I have no idea about the language and so it was not easy. It was difficult but a different experience,” she says.
Anne’s excited about the response to her song in Pullikaran Staraa. “Mammootty sir shared our making video. Unni Menon sir messaged me and said it was a beautiful rendition. I am still getting good reviews for the song. I did not expect all of this. However, I am not carried away and I want to improve,” says the singer.
