Tune in: Melody matters
Born and raised in the UK, Tripet Garielle has been making strides into Bollywood with singles like the upbeat, urban-flavoured Aa Vee Jaa and Saathiya, while Wo Pal being her career-defining track that released in 2015. Her upcoming new single Kamli, she offers a fresh international sound and style. A chat with Tripet talks about her musical favourites:
Q. If you had to put together a soundtrack for your life, three songs that best describe your life would be?
Khaylon Mein by Shreya Ghoshal because the song always takes me to another world. Kehna Hi Kya from Bombay because it reminds me of when I have fallen in love. Then there’s Hero by Mariah Carey. Yeh Zindagi Usi Ki Hai was first introduced to me by my vocal coach. It shows what it truly means to give your soul to your loved one which resembles me when I am in love and in heartbreak. Qasad Einy by Amr Diab, this song draws me deep into the ocean where I feel free.
Q. Is there a song you love to listen to when:
Q. You’re happy and upbeat: Tere Bina by Shreya Ghoshal
Q. You’re really low: Wo Pal or Aa Vee Jaa
Q. You’re working out: Let’s Dance Like We’re Making Love by Ciara.
Q. Is there any music you used to love as a kid or a teenager that you're now embarrassed by when you think back?
Raja Ko Rani Se Pyaar Ho Gaya. I used to sing this in a tape recorder as a child and play it back. Now I remember thinking how horrid my voice was.
Q. What’s your favourite time/way to listen to music during the day?
When I am working out in the mornings.
Q. If you could have one band in the world/a musician perform a private concert for you, which one/who would it be?
Arijit Singh — I love his style.
