Thaikkudam Bridge, the Kerala-based 15-member multi-genre, multi-lingual music band, is set to launch their new album Namah. A dream project of the band, Namah will be launched at a function to be held at Forum Santiniketan Mall, Whitefield, Bengaluru, on November 30, the band members informed at a press meet conducted at the Ernakulam Press Club.
Thaikkudam Bridge’s debut album Navarasam has had worldwide recognition. The second one has been named so as it is a salutation. Namah features legendary Indian and international artists. The artworks for the album have been done by the brilliant artist from Kerala, Pavi Sankar. “It is a tribute to esteemed musicians,” says Govind Vasantha, band member and music director. Songs are composed in multiple languages making it more
interesting.
Namah has 10 songs with themes such as life’s uncertainties, love, nature, pop culture, politics, gender inequality, women’s perspective about the man’s world and many more. Saawariya, Kanne, I can see you, Inside my head, Jeele ji Bhar, Kalliyankatt Neeli, Thekkini, Kaadum Malayum, Nee and Saalaikal are the songs. Thekkini, which might become the most loved one for Malayalis, is an improvised version of a song from Manichitrathazhu.
They are trying to make the album an experimental one by mixing different genres such as heavy metal, peppy music, trance electro, and others. Eleven legendary artists will be collaborating with the band in releasing Namah — Padma Vibushan Pandit Ram Narayan on sarangi, Ustad Rashid Khan on vocals, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on Mohan veena, Niladri Kumar on sitar, Anand Benjamin Paul on vocals, Jordan Rudess on keyboard, Rakesh Chaurasia on flute, Macro Minnemann on drums, Guthrie Govan on guitar, Chris Adler on drums, and Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman on mridangam.
Although the band gained international popularity, Kochi is always an important place for them. So, they have planned a show as part of Kochi Design Week 2019, at Bolgatty Palace and Island Resort on December 14. Their fans can enjoy the music from November 30 on different social media platforms like Spotify.
The band has so far conducted about 500 shows worldwide.
