How did your mother, Jayasudha, react to the trailer?
She found the trailer captivating and can’t wait to watch the entire movie. Her positive feedback is encouraging, and I look forward to her thoughts on the complete viewing experience.
What motivated you to accept the film?
I was earlier associated with "Gangster Ganga Raju". During that project, Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao commended my performance and mentioned a fitting story for me. Upon hearing the narrative, I was thrilled and readily agreed. Beyond my role as a lead, I resonated with the story due to its compelling characterization.
Can you describe your role?
The film follows the journey of two orphaned twins raised in the wilderness. The duo hone their wrestling skills in the forest, compete with the city aspirants, and eventually reach the international stage.
How different is this film from any of the previous flicks on the same subject?
While this remains a commercial endeavor, it's distinct from "Dangal" and similar films. While others delve deep into wrestling matches, our narrative intertwines wrestling with a broader emotional arc, making it a commercial venture infused with sentiment and emotion. Elements like maternal sentiment, music, and action are integral to the movie.
How does this concept resonate with today's global audience?
Our film delves into WW competitions, showcasing the transformation from wrestling to WWE. While wrestling-centric narratives are more common in regions like Rajasthan and Haryana, our film transcends these boundaries with its multifaceted storyline. We aim to evoke pride among all Indians, hence the pan India release in eight languages.
How do you plan to promote the film in other languages?
We've already embarked on promotional tours in Bengaluru and Chennai, which have garnered positive responses. We're expanding our outreach to regions like Mumbai, where such stories resonate well. Additionally, promotions are underway for Malayalam and Odia audiences.
Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao returns to directing after a hiatus. How was his direction?
A: Rao's passion for storytelling shines through. His films often carry social messages, and "Record Break" is no exception. It's a patriotic endeavor with a compelling narrative. The action sequences, crafted by Joshua, bring freshness to each scene. Rao's seasoned direction, coupled with Joshua's expertise, elevates the film. Moreover, the emphasis on character development adds depth beyond typical heroism.
Will you continue acting in films consistently?
Absolutely, I'm committed to pursuing more projects in the future.
You've studied direction. Is directing a possibility down the line?
Directing is certainly on the cards, although it may take some time. I've penned scripts and I'm exploring opportunities in both OTT platforms and feature films. When the timing aligns, I'll delve into directing.
