OTT giants vie for Naga Chaitanya-Sobhita wedding streaming rights
If industry sources are to be believed, the legendary Akkineni Family is reportedly negotiating with a few digital giants, since many are seeking exclusive rights to capture and premiere the much-awaited and grand gala event on their digital platforms.
The second marriage of reigning star Naga Chaitanya with popular actress Sobhita Dhulipala is one of the biggest celebrity events in the tinsel world as they will tie the knot on December 4. “Even though few digital platforms are vying for the rights, Netflix remains the top contender for its reach in over 190 countries and for its marketing blitz to boost and hype the grand marriage of star couple and grab more eyeballs. Besides, it would be graced by the biggest Tollywood, Kollywood, and Bollywood stars making it a must-watch celebration,” he adds.
No doubt, Naga Chaitanya is a star on his own after big hits like ‘Majili’ and ‘Love Story’ and is awaiting the release of his maiden pan-India film ‘Thandel’. “He is a rising star and also quite popular among Hindi and other non-Telugu OTT viewers. On the other hand, actress Sobhita was seen in Telugu films like ‘ ‘Major’ and also in the Tamil film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Her Hindi outreach with web series like ‘Love, Sitara’ and the American movie ‘Monkey Man’ expanded her fan base,” he points out.
He further adds, “It is the most-awaited event in the tinsel world since two popular actors are getting married and seasoned pan-India star Nagarjuna is organizing and supervising the arrangements”. He claims that “it would be viewed by maximum viewers across the world since Akkineni is a brand on its own and their marriage plans are expected to be grand, star-studded, and strikingly rich in all aspects."
Recently, Netflix premiered ‘Beyond The Fairy Tale’, a documentary film about the early years of Nayantara and the struggles she faced in her personal and professional lives, before finding the right man and director Vignesh Sivan, and their love and marriage. "Their marriage arrangements and traditional marriage rituals were covered in detail," he concludes.
