What to Watch for week ending December 9
It’s the last month of the year and there are no signs of slowing down on the streaming platforms. The pack of releases is mostly led by thrillers on all digital platforms this week. However, the Christmas spirit too finds a place.
Noted actor Randeep Hooda is all set to debut on Netflix this week with #CAT releasing on December 9, Friday. The show is about a former police informant who is summoned to infiltrate a major drug empire but uncovers a dangerous connection to his dark past. Besides Randeep, the show boasts a stellar cast including Suvinder Vicky and Harleen Kaur.
Continuing with thrillers, Netflix will also have the release of ‘God’s Crooked Lines’. Based on an eponymous novel by Torcuato Luca de Tena, the movie is about a private detective who checks into a psychiatric hospital to investigate another patient’s death. The moviecategorized has been categorised as a psychological thriller. It 's original title is Los renglones torcidos de Dios.
Well, all is not that gloomy. On December 7, Netflix has also lined up a Christmas release. ‘I Hate Christmas’ is the story of a young, independent girl who is trying to find a boyfriend before Christmas. The romantic comedy stars Pilar Fogtail.
Thrillers seem to be the favorite genre across OTTs. So, we will have ‘Fall’ releasing on #Disney+Hotstar on December 9. Starring Anjali, S.P.B. Charan, ‘Fall’ is the story of a girl who had a fall on a car from her balcony and has lost her memory.
Besides, the new episode of ‘Welcome to Chippendales’ will drop on Wednesday as usual. Headlined by Kumail Nanjiani, so far three episodes of this fascinating story of an Indian immigrant starting a male strip club are out.
SonyLiv this week has a world premiere of Tamil movie, ‘Witness’. Recently, the OTT platform has showcased good Tamil content with ‘Kaiyum Kalavum’ and ‘Anel Meley Pani Thuli’. Incidentally, ‘Anel…’ too was directly released on OTT. ‘Witness’ is a social drama dealing with the issue of manual scavengers. The movie has been directed by Deepak and features #Shraddha Srinath and Rohini.
Staying with the social theme, the next release blends the issue of Naxalism and romance. ‘Like, Share and Subscribe’ is a tale of two travel bloggers when they find themselves in the midst of rising tensions between the naxal and the police. The movie has been directed by Merlapaka Gandhi.
Another release on the platform will be #Faadu, which promises to be an intense love story between two characters who are polar opposites of each other. It stars Saiyami Kher in the lead.
Also, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sija Rose, and Shine Tom Chacko’s mystery drama ‘Roy’ would finally be released this week.
Meanwhile, popular actor Taapsee Pannu debuts as a producer with ‘Blurr’ on Zee5. Releasing on December 9, the movie is an official remake of a Spanish film, ‘Julia’s Eyes’. Besides Taapsee, the movie stars Gulshan Devaiah and Kruttika Desai. A Zee5 original, ‘Blurr’ is the story of Gayatri who is suffering from a degenerative eye disorder. However, she has to solve the mystery of her twin sister’s death.
Nithin’s ‘Macherla Niyojakavargam’ which deals with Siddartha’s bid to take on local goons and politicians as a Collector will have its OTT release on Zee5 on December 9.
Kannada movie ‘Monsoon Raga’ is another romantic movie headed for its OTT release this week. It is a remake of Telugu film C/o Kancharapalem.
Noted Bengali actor Mimi Chakraborty’s ‘Mini’ will be released on December 9 on Zee5. It’s a heartwarming tale of Titli played by Mimi who is asked to look after Mini (Ayanna Chatterjee) when she is hospitalized.
The romantic drama ‘Urvasio Rakshasivo’, starring Allu Shishir Amu Emmanuel will be aired on Aha from December 9.
So, put up your feet and let OTTs entertain you to the hilt.
