Lokesh Kanagaraj shares a key update on Kaithi 2
Karthi Sivakumar is gearing up to enthrall his fans with the upcoming film, "Japan," which is set to hit screens on November 10. The film's trailer was recently unveiled, generating considerable buzz for this crime comedy. "Japan" is both written and directed by Raju Murugan, and it stars Anu Emmanuel as the female lead alongside Karthi.
A grand trailer launch event was held at Chennai's Nehru Indoor Stadium on October 28, graced by numerous luminaries from the film industry. The star-studded gathering included distinguished personalities such as director Siruthai Siva, Pa Ranjith, Lokesh Kanagaraj, actor Sathyaraj, Sivakumar, Suriya, Vishal, and many others. Director Raju Murugan expressed his gratitude to actor Karthi for his significant contribution to the event and the film itself.
During the event, director Lokesh Kanagaraj piqued interest when asked about his next project within the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The LCU's debut film was "Kaithi," starring Karthi in the lead role. Lokesh Kanagaraj disclosed that he would be helming "Kaithi 2," followed by the Suriya-starrer "Rolex." The presence of both Karthi and Suriya on stage sparked excitement and speculation among fans regarding a potential clash between their characters within the LCU.
Lokesh Kanagaraj's most recent addition to this series, "Leo," featuring Thalapathy Vijay, was released recently. The overarching storyline suggests that the characters will eventually unite to confront the primary antagonist, rumored to be named "Rolex," portrayed by Suriya Sivakumar. Lokesh expressed his openness to directing the sequel to "Leo" following an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience, although no official confirmation has been received from the makers.
Actor Sathyaraj became emotional during the event, expressing his gratitude to veteran actor Sivakumar for his support when he relocated from Coimbatore to pursue a career in cinema. Lokesh Kanagaraj lauded Karthi for his unwavering passion for the world of cinema. Suriya Sivakumar humbly acknowledged that Karthi enjoys more popularity among the audience, even though he has worked in only 25 films to date.
