Japanese film Monster now streaming on OTT now
Japanese horror films occupy a special place by mixing local legends, body terror as well as monster movies for both exciting and scaring viewers. Some have even secured near-perfect scores on Rotten Tomatoes becoming cult classics.
‘Ringu,’ ‘Cure,’ ‘Kwaidan’ and the original ‘Godzilla’ are some of the best examples of lasting influences that Japanese horror has had. Moreover, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s movie called ‘Monster’ came out last year and quickly became popular.
It premiered at May 2023’s 76th Cannes Film Festival. It even competed in the mystery thriller category where it competed for the prestigious Palme d’Or. The Queer Palm and Best Screenplay awards were won by this film. The focus is on Saori Mugino, who is a single mother, and her son Minato who gradually becomes a stranger. Looking for any answers, Saori finds Minato’s teacher to solve a scary puzzle.
At the Cannes Film Festival, a positive reception extended to Monster which goes beyond the limits of Japanese Cinema thus confirming its position within the terrible genre.
The title that stars Sakura Andō, Eita Nagayama, Sōya Kurokawa, Hinata Hiiragi, and more in leading roles is now available for streaming – renting/buying – on BookMyShow exclusively.
