Banking on the stardom of its cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Hassan the much awaited sci-fi action thriller, Kalki 2898 AD has garnered more than Rs 38 crore in advance bookings for day one.
In Telangana alone the movie earned more Rs 18 crore in advance bookings and in Andhra Pradesh the number is Rs 9.26 crore as per the latest estimates.
However, the makers of the film were criticized for not promoting the movie on a big level. This can also be said to be true, if we compare the advance bookings of Kalki with Prabhas's last movie.
According to sacnilk.com, Prabhas's last film Salaar Part 1 had made over Rs 48 crore in advance bookings on day one. However, the pre-bookings of Kalki's premier shows have created a new record grossing $ 1.2 million.
As per trade analysts, Prabhas's Kalki is expected to rake in at least Rs 30 crore in Telugu states alone and over Rs 50 crores across centres on the first day of its release.
Prabhas' unmatched craze in Telugu states can be seen in Hyderabad, as per reports, a multiplex in the city is hosting more than 40 shows and has created history of sorts for screening the most number of shows in a day. It was also told that the tickets for all these shows are 'Sold Out'.
The film is directed by Nag Ashwin and will hit Silver-screens on June 27.
