A humungous budget of `1000 cr is rumoured to be marked for the film

S.S. Rajamouli and superstar Mahesh Babu launched their eagerly-awaited jungle saga at a mahurat pooja in Hyderabad on Thursday. This was the first time in years that Mahesh Babu was participating in a mahurat of his film – usually, his wife Namrata Shirodkar attends such events in his name.
“This is a collaboration that has been in the works for almost 15 years, and finally, the filmmaker and the superstar are working on what is going to be one of the biggest globe-trotting action adventures,” said a source close to the production.
The film, now referred to as SSMB 29, will be a two-part franchise. With an exorbitant `1000 crore allotted for its making, it is said to be one of the most expensive films to date. It will be shot in the jungles of Africa, and a Hollywood studio too has been roped in. Rajamouli also took a 9-acre aluminium factory near Gachibowli on lease and will be shooting some portions there.
“Rajamouli Sir is known for epic dramas with a human element. The SS-Mahesh Babu combination is something everyone in the industry has been waiting for,” said a trade analyst.
Oscar-winning composer MM Keerawani will be scoring the music, while writer Vijayendra Prasad is in charge of the screenplay. SSMB29 is slated for release in 2027.
