Ram Charan’s Game Changer Rakes in ₹25 Crore Despite Mixed Reviews

The much-anticipated film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, opened strongly on its first day in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, raking in ₹25 crore. Marking Ram Charan’s return to the big screen after five years, the film was heavily hyped and aimed to deliver a blockbuster.

“Ram Charan proved his box office stamina, drawing large crowds even for a film that was in production for three years,” said a distributor. He added, “The movie needs to capitalise on the upcoming holidays to sustain its collections in the days ahead.”

Director Shankar made his Telugu debut with this film after achieving success with his dubbed movies in the region. “Shankar, known for his commercial hits, was praised by industry stalwarts like Pawan Kalyan and Rajamouli ahead of the release,” the distributor remarked. “However, for his Telugu debut, he could have chosen a script more in sync with the preferences of the new-age audience.”

Mixed Reception and Audience Feedback

Mega fans turned out in large numbers, filling 4 a.m. shows across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Despite the enthusiasm, the film received mixed reactions in certain areas.

“The Ram Charan-Shankar combination sparked immense interest, but the movie’s political action theme dampened the spirits of some audiences,” a trade analyst observed. “Shankar seems stuck in the 90s, unable to cater to millennial viewers.”

The analyst further noted, “Shankar, who delivered a groundbreaking film like Robo, chose to showcase an IAS officer as the protagonist in Game Changer. Unfortunately, this approach felt outdated to Telugu audiences who have already seen numerous political dramas.”

Challenges Ahead

With two more films, Daaku Maharaaj and Sankranthiki Vasthunam, slated to release within the next few days, Game Changer faces stiff competition. To break even, the film must earn over ₹100 crore in the Telugu states alone.

The coming days will determine whether Game Changer can sustain its momentum and live up to its ambitious expectations.
