Sandalwood actor-cricketer Dhruv Sharma passes away at 35

He had even captained the Indian deaf-and-dumb cricket team, which won the world cup.

Mumbai: Sandalwood actor and cricketer Dhruv Sharma, 35, passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday. His debut movie ‘Snehanjali’ made it into in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the only movie with a deaf-and-dumb actor in the main lead. Dhruv Sharma, who is congenitally impaired of speech and hearing abilities, played the lead role of a normal guy with perfection - lip-syncing the dialogues and songs.

The actor is survived by his parents, his wife and two children. He had even captained the Indian deaf-and-dumb cricket team, which won the world cup.

He was popular for his all-round cricketing ability while playing for Karnataka Bulldozers team captained by his close friend - Kiccha Sudeep in Celebrity Cricket league.

He has acted in several other movies including the recent ones - Lootie, Tippaji Circle and few others. His father Dr. Sharma is also a popular actor, who has acted in several supporting roles both in Kannada TV serials and films. According to reports, Dhruv allegedly attempted to commit suicide a few days ago following which he was admitted, and on Tuesday he was declared dead due to cardiac arrest and multiple organ failures.

Several Bollywood actors including Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh who played in the Celebrity Cricket Matches took to Twitter, expressing their grief over Dhruv's sudden death.
