She’s already a star on social media and now, she’s entering the Kannada film industry with an exciting project. The star who is popular on the app, Musically which is now known as Tik-Tok, Disha Madan is kicked about having signed her first feature film, which is being produced by Puneeth Rajkumar’s PRK Productions.
Disha, who is playing a fervent reporter in the flick, says, “One day, I got a call from RJ Pradeepa and he told me that PRK Productions is coming up with a new film and they’re looking for a female lead and asked me if I’d be interested and I said -— yes, absolutely! It’s not too often that you get to do movies with such big banners and I considered myself extremely lucky. The director, Pannaga Bharana and I got in touch and met for a small audition and after about a week, I got a call to be a part of the film, officially.”

It’s been more than a week since the shoot started and it’s been going well so far for Disha, whose co-stars in the film are funny man Danish Sait and dancer Salman Yussuf Khan.
“Since it’s a comedy, there’s so much improv happening on the sets and it’s hilarious! I’m keenly looking forward to working with Dan and Sal, they’re such brilliant artists. Dan lights up the entire room when he walks in. He makes sure he’s said his hellos to every single soul in the room. You’d probably never seen Dan sitting by himself, not interacting with someone or being off his phone. He’s constantly cracking jokes and making people smile,” shares Disha. As for the director, she reveals, “Pannaga is probably the most understanding person I’ve worked with. I look up to him and respect him. He’s an absolute gem and I’m very lucky to have been his pick for the film.”
As for her other project, the web-series Hate You Romeo with Aravind Iyerr, Disha reveals that it will be completed in around two or three months. This danseuse is one of those few artistes who not only got married at a young age, but also didn’t find the need to hide her marital status from the public.
“Honestly, with the two projects that I’ve been a part of, being “married” never really played importance on screen or off screen. When men can be dreamy and desirable on screen even after being married and having three kids off screen, what rule says women can’t? Being married doesn’t make a woman less beautiful or less worthy of good roles in good films. If you’re a talented actor, landing strong roles should never matter. Talent in women should be appreciated, even if you’re married and have kids. I’m glad I didn’t push marriage any further just so I get good roles.”
I’m never letting my personal life take a break or slow down, because I know I have it in me to keep going professionally too. Women should never think of themselves as any less,” says the actress, who’s happily married to Shashank Vasuki. Even when choosing a film, she keeps her husband’s dates in mind. “This is because I make sure he comes every now and then to the shoot and sits through it all. I also take into consideration how good the script is , how challenging the role is and how great the team is,” she says.
