Charity begins @ B'day bashes
Superstar birthday’s are special occasions, alright. Our favourite actors and celebrities celebrate their big day with a festive extravaganza, and die-fans can’t get enough. The unconditional love and support showered on them apart, celebrating amongst fans is what matters most. Not surprisingly, these celebrations start almost a month or two before D-Day. When the day arrives, long queues gather in front of the favourite star’s house, as fans stand, flowers, cakes and malas in hand. Legendary star actors like the late Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan and many more still enjoy unconditional love and affection with various fans association marking their birthdays with unique programmes that celebrate their lives.
However, the needless waste of money during such celebrations has also been a cause of concern, despite many actors and stars urging their fans not to waste money, and to use it for a social cause. Recently, Kiccha Sudeep urged his fans to stay away from such celebrations, and Real Star Upendra reiterated this message, addressing fans along similar lines. Bengaluru Chronicle reports.
This year, Kiccha Sudeep’s birthday was a low key-affair. The reason behind it was that he had urged his fans to not waste money, and use it for a social cause. In a statement addressed to his fans, he said, “For years, I have felt blessed and loved when each fan turns up for my birthday, and celebrates it as his own.
Thank you all for this unconditional love that you have showered for more than two decades. I have nothing to offer you apart from my love and work, which I will do till my last breath.”
On the wastage of money, he had said, “I request you (his fans) to use the money to donate to those in need. Use this money to buy food (for the hungry), to whom a single meal a day is a dream. Trust me, the money that is being spent on decorations and cakes etc can actually save someone’s house or life. This to me is the best gift you all can give me. This will be the best way to celebrate, and this is about what little we all can do for the people in need.”
He also said that henceforth, he will not celebrate his birthday and will be away. “Look around, and you will see many who need your little support and help. Lend them a hand. Someday, you will see light shining on you too, when you least expect to see the smallest ray,” he had added.
Even Real Star Upendra, who turned 49 on Monday requested his fans, asking them to not waste money. “For all my loving fans, I request you to not spend money on cakes, garlands and flexi boards. Please come and meet me with your wishes on your birthday,” he tweeted.
However, despite such an urge, many of his die-hard fans did turn up with cakes and garlands to wish the Real Star, who has recently started a political party.
“We honour every word of Kiccha anna. We had been organising several social events helping the needy, but we also did our best to celebrate our anna’s birthday in a grand scale. However, from this year, we have decided to organise various social service programmes. We only wish that at least Kiccha anna stays at home on his birthday, so we can meet and wish him,” says Santosh, a fan of Kiccha Sudeep.
Real Star’s associations of Upendra fans feel that now that their favourite star has entered into politics, they are excited and are doing their bit to support the causes he works for.
