One of the most anticipated sequels, Mungaru Male 2, has received a mixed response at the box-office. However, it has resulted in a “lucky” downpour of compliments for the debutante. The film proved a talisman for Mangaluru-born beauty, Neha Shetty, who managed to shine with her acting skills. A model-turned actress, Neha Shetty speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle about her debut, future plans and much more.
“It was altogether a different and crazy experience for me with this particular film. Almost everyone who has watched my performance in MM2 has appreciated my work. I feel very lucky as my hard work has paid off. As far as the film is concerned, the audience needs to watch it without comparing the sequel to the first version, I feel. It’s a new-age love story with lots of emotions, happiness and crazy adventures,” says Neha Shetty.
Speaking about adventure, the actress says that she had the greatest time shooting for the film that required her to ride camels and motorbikes in Rajasthan. And the climax scene was the highlight of the film.
“It was a thrilling experience when I had to hang onto a rope, inside a car stuck on a tree in a dense jungle. It was nothing short of shooting for a dozen movies in one single venture. Several cameras were placed inside the car, and whenever the car spun 360 degrees, I was totally in shock and awe for the moment,” she adds.
Neha recollects how her family members and friends reacted after watching her for the first time on the big screen, “They all loved it, and by the end of it, they said that the character I play was similar to me in real life, as I love adventure and trying out new things, even if it’s dangerous. I had never discussed the story with my parents or my friends, as I wanted it to be a surprise for them. But I could not control myself from sharing it with my younger sister (who is in the seventh standard). After watching the risky shots, my mother has decided to accompany me during the shoots for future films,” she smiles.
With appreciations from all corners for her debut act, several offers have been pouring in but the actress explains that she is waiting for some more time before she tries out more challenging roles.
Even before the ‘Male’ experiences recedes, Neha adds that it was because of her parents support, she could realise her dreams, and now she wants to be selective, while choosing the right films and script.
