Whatte Spactacular feat!
She’s focused, sprightly and a movie buff by nature. City girl Sparsha R.K can’t remember a time when she wasn’t excited about anything that had to with cinema. Roughly over half a decade old in the Sandalwood industry; the efforts have finally come to fruition – it’s raining opportunities and accolades for city artiste Sparsha RK. The Bengaluru hudugi (who juggles playback singing and acting) recently clinched two awards for her soulful rendition in the track Baazaru Bhaari Joraite from Bahuparak. And now, there’s another accolade in her kitty she was adjudged the winner in the best actress (for short films) category at the Vishnuvardhan Kiruchitrothsava at Dr Vishnuvardhan Rashtreeya Utsava. In a candid chat, she tells us more...
“Virgin, our short film directed by Raghu Charn (a renowned serial director) was submitted to the Vishnuvardhan Kiruchitrothsava. And to be frank, I was unaware of the developments about us reaching the top 5, and was busy dubbing for a feature film when I got a call at 5 pm from our team, congratulating me,” shares Sparsha, rather excitedly. The short film has some real luck on its side as the male protagonist also clinched an award in the best actor category. Looking at things from a retrospect, she is glad about how her filmi career has shaped up.
The microbiologist’s tryst with playback singing and acting comes after her stint in regional reality shows. “I never thought of becoming a singer or an actress, but reality shows gave me the much needed boost. I’m a science student whose paths crossed with cinema out of sheer luck!”
Sparsha also adds that this feat came as a pleasant surprise to her, despite being told that she did make the cut in the past. “Not in the least bit did I expect an award. I have been into theatre ever since I was a kid. Bimba has groomed me as an actor but I chose to be a professional singer in the course of time. However, the love for acting hasn’t died. I keep acting in short films directed by my brother, my best friend. I was also a part of Mahaparva, a tele-serial directed by TN Seetharam sir. Despite all this, I have never felt confident about my acting skills. Many who met me have told me that I have a flair for acting. This award just re-instills my faith.” Sparsha who was nominated for Filmfare Awards 2018 for Kempirve, has another interesting role in her kitty. “ I’ve played a small yet vital part in the upcoming feature Alidullidavaru,” concludes the city lass, who’s also making waves with her own products titled Coffee Bite, which she started with her best friend Manasa.
