Multi-lingual hudugi

Sandalwood star Shraddha Srinath has a slew of prestigious films lined up in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.

There’s no stopping this Bengaluru girl who’s literally going places in the film world. Actress Shraddha Srinath is not only doing Rustum in Kannada, but has also signed yet another Tamil movie apart from Maara with R Madhavan.

With a biggie like Shiva Rajkumar-starrer Rustum in her kitty, Shraddha will be seen in her first film with a mass actor. “I never thought I’ll be doing a mass star’s film and Shivanna is as big as it gets. It’s a cop drama where I will be playing Shivanna’s wife, who’s his pillar of strength. A lot of big names are involved in the project and stunt master Ravivarma, who’s known for his action across India, will be directing it,” she shares.

In her new Tamil film, which is being directed by newcomer Bharath Neelakandan, Shraddha’s starring opposite Arulnithi Tamilarasu. “I started shooting for the movie on July 12. This month was actually supposed to be a packed one, but 10 days opened up for me and luckily, the universe conspired. The producers of the film got in touch and I had a meeting with Bharat. I really enjoyed his narration and the script itself was super interesting, so I didn’t take much time to decide that I’d be doing it,” says the artiste, who will be playing an author in the flick. “The screenplay is non-linear and complex,” she adds.

While Shraddha’s doing films in Kannada, Hindi and Telugu as well, it seems Kollywood can’t get enough of the stunning performer, who’s doing another movie with Tamil heartthrob Madhavan. Kicked about getting to share screen space with her Vikram Vedha co-star, Shraddha says, “When VV happened, I had no idea how he was as a person, but now I know him and there’ a great deal of comfort and we crack a lot of jokes from our Vikram Vedha times! It’s nice to work with someone like him again, especially if you’ve had a great chemistry in the previous film.”

Despite the fact that she’s gone multi-lingual, the lawyer-turned-actor feels that she’s yet to see the ‘crescendo’ in her career. “I feel like all this is building upto something big — there’s a lot more work out there. The downside of dabbling in different industries is that you don’t have your roots anywhere and you don’t know where your real demand is. I want to know which industry has more scope for me - I guess I’ll find out soon,” she smiles.

Now that she’s won her second consecutive Filmfare award, is there something specific she aspires to do? “To me, success is how recognisable your face is as an actress or a brand. I want to be known as a desirable actress who can perform - that’s something I strive to be,” says the U-Turn girl who reveals that something big’s in store for her fans and audiences. “I hope to share the news soon,” she signs off.
