The autopsy report reveals that Renuka Swamy allegedly tortured and killed by popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa died from shock and bleeding. The report found 15 wounds on Swamy's body who was allegedly beaten to death by the actor and his associates.
Swamy was kidnapped from Chitradurga in Karnataka due to his comments on social media about Pavithra Gowda, Darshan Thoogudeepa’s girlfriend. His body showed injuries on the head, abdomen, chest and other areas. The autopsy also indicated that his head hit a mini truck in a shed in Bengaluru where he was taken after being kidnapped. The police have seized the truck.
Additionally police recovered wooden logs, a leather belt and a rope used to torture Swamy. Darshan Thoogudeepa reportedly tried to make three men take the blame for the murder by offering them ₹5 lakh each but they confessed under police interrogation.
"This is a serious crime and Darshan Thoogudeepa will face the consequences. There will be no government interference," stated Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Thursday.
Earlier, a driver named Ravi who had transported Renuka Swamy from Chitradurga to Bengaluru surrendered to the police. Another accused Raghu (also known as Raghavendra) had organized Ravi’s taxi and accompanied Swamy from Chitradurga. Ravi went into hiding after dropping them off in Bengaluru but later surrendered upon advice from the taxi association in Chitradurga.
Raghu who managed a fan club for the actor in Chitradurga was hired by Darshan to gather information on Renuka Swamy according to the police. Renuka Swamy’s wife claimed he was kidnapped near their home. The actor and his aides later abandoned Renuka Swamy’s body by the roadside. A food delivery rider discovered the body and alerted the police. CCTV footage showed two cars, one is connected to Darshan leaving the area after dumping the body.
