Sonu Nigam urges politicians to avoid concerts if they can't stay
Renowned singer Sonu Nigam has publicly criticised Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and other local political dignitaries for their behavior during his performance at the Rising Rajasthan event on Monday. In a video shared on Instagram, Nigam expressed his disappointment at politicians who left the event midway, disrupting the atmosphere and disrespecting the performers.
Sonu began by emphasizing the importance of the event, which had delegates from across the world in attendance. "Delegates came from all over the world to enhance the pride of Rajasthan," he said, noting the presence of high-profile officials such as the Chief Minister, youth minister, and sports minister. However, the mood of the event took a turn when Nigam noticed that the CM and other officials abruptly left in the middle of his performance. Following their exit, many delegates also chose to leave.
In his video, Nigam appealed to politicians, urging them to refrain from attending performances if they cannot stay for the entire event. “If you have to leave, then do not come. Or leave before the show starts,” Nigam said, stressing the disrespect this behavior showed to art and artists. He also made an emotional plea to all politicians to respect artists, citing that leaving during a performance is an insult to Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge and the arts.
The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many people demanding accountability from the state government. Nigam’s criticism of the mismanagement has raised concerns about the role of politicians in cultural events. As the situation continues to unfold, many are awaiting a response from the Rajasthan government regarding the matter.
