Low TRPs have often been a reason for TV producers to change the track of their show or revive the dead. This time, it is Ekta Kapoor who has to bring the leading lady of her show, Kasam, back. Kratika Sengar is back on the show to boost its low TRP ratings. A source has revealed that the actress, who has been holidaying with husband Niketan Dheer in Europe, will resume shooting in a week’s time.
Kratika’s portrayal as Tanuja, and her chemistry with Ssharad Malhotra, had made the show soar high on the ratings charts. In fact, Ekta was very happy with the response that the show had been receiving. Even though it was risky to bump off Kratika’s character, Ekta went ahead with her decision to keep the show’s theme on reincarnation intact. Shivani Tomar replaced Kratika, but the plot went awry as the viewers failed to warm up to the non-existent chemistry between Ssharad and Shivani.
According to a source, it is very likely that Shivani’s character will be scraped to make way for Kratika. Confirming the development, a source from the show says, “The deal has worked with Kratika and she is back on the show. The makers are working overtime to reinstate her into the storyline and a major twist is expected. The new story will have a Lamhe-like feel with a much older Ssharad falling in love with a very young Tanuja.”
Kratika was unavailable for comments. When contacted, Ssharad said, “I am not aware of any such development. I guess the producer is still finalising the storyline. I don’t think it will be right for me to comment about it. ”
