A flashback, a debut & more

The pretty Shringeri lass debuts in A-Plus while getting back to her popular small screen avatar Sathi.

She was one of the top 10 finalists at the Miss India beauty pageant in 2014. She also went on to runner up position at the world supermodel contest. Born in Shringeri, she has lived in several cities as her father is an officer with the Indian Air Force. Sangeetha S, who had essayed the role of Sathi in Hara Hara Mahadeva, a mythological drama on Star Suvarna, is back again as Sathi! The model-turned-actress, who makes her silverscreen debut in the Kannada film A-Plus, which was a sort of sequel to the Real Star hit film A, talks about her return to screen essaying the role of Sathi, and about her acting journey into Bollywood and more.

“It was during my college days, at events meant for freshers and scores of other college functions, that my talent was recognised and appreciated. It boosted my confidence, and I took up modelling. This was when I debuted as Sathi. I guess I was destined to portray a goddess on the small screen, and it earned me great love and appreciation from the audience as well. According to mythology, the tale of Sathi is about how she sacrifices herself, and returns as Parvathi, and hence, a new actor had to step in to portray the change. I did not sign on any other Kannada teleserials after that, and the audience dearly missed seeing me onscreen. Now, with the flashback sequences, Sathi returns,” Sangeetha smiles.

She has also been busy with a tele-serial in Telugu titled Sagara Sangamana, and has plans to make her mark in films as well.

“Following my goddess avatar on television, and backed with the recognition I received thanks to my modeling career, I got many film offers. I had gone through atleast 50 scripts before I signed A-Plus, the Kannada venture, which marks my debut. The film is rich in essence, and so is my character in the film. I have kept on reading scripts, but none have excited me except A-Plus, which is a sort of sequel to Real Star Upendra Sir’s film A. It is directed by none other than Real Star’s assistant director Vijay Surya,” she adds.

Sangeetha is agile and a lover of sports too. She was an NCC cadet during her Kendriya Vidyalaya School days, and even represented Karnataka in Kho Kho where she was awarded a gold medal in 2012.

In A-Plus, she is paired opposite Siddhu, who was the antagonist in the film Silicon City. About her future plans, she is eager to work in Bollywood, and will not limit herself to any particular language or genre.
