Mouni Roy slips into naagin avatar, again
After it’s first successful season, Naagin is back on the small screen. The show put Mouni Roy in the limelight, and prompted several small screen shows to cash in on the theme. We got up close and personal with the protagonist of the show, Mouni, and got her to spill the beans on the show.
Mouni, Naagin has made you a phenomenon. The show has put you on a pedestal…
Naagin was a huge success. I think we have a bigger responsibility this time around. We will rewrite history if Naagin 2 brings us good ratings. We didn’t expect the first season to be successful. I still remember when the first episode rating was going to air, we were praying that we end up shooting for season 2 as well. By the third week, we managed a 5.6 rating. Later on, we were 6. This is only because of Ekta Ma’am’s vision and our hard work. This season will tell us where we actually stand.
Kavach too was a thriller but it failed to deliver. Pulling Naagin off air at a staggering TRP of 5.6 was a huge risk. It ultimately backfired. Will season 2 be able to create a milestone like the first?
I don’t have the luxury to sit and think about it but I am hopeful that the show will work. I have been through the narration process, and have been shooting for a while now. The show has potential. As actors, we can reach the sets on time, deliver our scenes and go home. Ultimately it is the audience who decides. It also depends on how lucky you are.
You are playing a double role in the show. It must have been challenging for you.
It is tough. I am playing both the mother and the daughter, so you will find me going over the script all the time. There is no conversation or dialogue happening when you are playing a double role. I talk to a green chroma or the green wall. I think we have done a great job with it though.
You were recently spotted at Lalbaghcha Raja with your boyfriend Mohit Raina. The hand-in-hand appearance at the pandal indicated you are pretty much a couple. Would you still deny you are a couple?
I am not answering this question. Let’s stick to Naagin please.
There is a strong buzz you have done a lip job. Have you?

A lot of people feel that the success of Naagin has made you inaccessible. Why have you suddenly become so reticent?
I have always been like this. When have I done interviews? In fact, I think I am much more accessible now. With Naagin, I have realised that I need to go out and give interviews. I like my work to do the talking.
