Many a Bollywood diva — be it Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vidya Balan or Deepika Padukone — has donned the retro look in their movies. The television industry isn’t far behind and many TV shows have seen actors donning the retro look for their shows. Just recently we saw the entire cast of Amma in a retro look and now we will see lead pair of upcoming show Har Mard Ka Dard, Jenal Benali and Faisal Rashid, sporting an old-school look in the first promo of the show.
Actress Jenal is currently seen wearing a pink retro outfit with a ’70s style hairstyle in the promo, while Faisal wears a ’70s style button-down with tropical print. Commenting on the trend, Jenal said, “In Om Shanti Om, we saw Deepika Padukone sporting retro fashion, and it was very elegant. When I was informed about the look, I immediately thought of her and was really excited at the prospect.”
Elaborating on television’s obsession with golden era fashion, actress Kavita Kaushik, who has donned the look many a times in her show FIR says, “We are all are still fascinated by the ’70s, as it was a fun era with amazing fashion and music. That is why we keep drawing inspiration from it. It’s a style that will never go out of vogue.”
Actress Ragini Khanna adds, “Classics are classics; there’s so much romance attached to nostalgia. We romanticise the past and it needs to be celebrated. Tomorrow, when I become someone’s past I would also want to be celebrated. I myself have donned a retro look in my show Sasural Genda Phool several times.”
