The &TV team and producer Benaifer Kohli have finally found their new Angoori Bhabhi. Even though numerous well-known faces were auditioned to replace Shilpa Shinde, Benaifer chose to cast Shubhangi in the coveted character. Considering Shubhangi had earlier replaced Shilpa in the show Chidiya Ghar, too, is it a just a coincidence or simply a case of producers pulling a fast one on Shilpa? Benaifer says, “Why would we do that? We have cast Shubhangi on her merit. I think she will make for an exceptional Angoori. All I can say is wait and watch to decide for yourself.”
Meanwhile, Shilpa, who has filed a case of harassment against Benaifer at a local police station, is furious about being replaced on the show. Reacting to the replacement, an angry Shilpa says, “Benaifer stopped calling me to shoots and desperately looked for a replacement all this time. She conveniently went about town saying that I left the show. She even convinced Cine & TV Artistes Association (Cintaa) to gang up against me and ensured that I am left with no work. Now, she has happily replaced me with another actress. I am so disappointed — this is mental harassment. Isn’t it strange that she floated big names as my replacement and she only found Shubhangi to replace me of all actresses in the industry? Let her cast anyone. I don’t care. I am the best person for the role. Nobody will be able to create the same magic as me.”

The actress is not one to sit back and take it all in her stride. Shilpa says, “I am strong. The biggest loss was when I lost my father — this is nothing. She sent me a legal notice; now I will show her what exactly is a legal notice. I know a few Supreme Court lawyers and I think I will seek their help. They have all ganged up against me. It’s so difficult to survive in this industry. I will not sit quiet. I will fight till the end.”
