Hina Khan offends people
TV actress Hina Khan, who became a household name playing Akshara in the hugely popular sitcom Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai might have just irked the southern film industries. In Bigg Boss 11 which she is a part of, Hina talks about the prerequisites of a voluptuous body that filmmakers in the south expect. “The directors ask heroines to put on weight. I know because I was offered two big south films and I rejected both of them for that reason. They want everything bulging, as the woman dances in the sari,” she said.
In the same breath, Hina added, that she did regret rejecting one film that co-starred Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh, referring to the blockbuster film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. “It was a blockbuster. I sometimes wish I had done it. They had come to Mumbai to meet me,” Hina said.
Netizens took to social media calling her statements derogatory. Actress Hansika Motwani took offence too and tweeted in a series of posts, “What is this supposed to even mean? How can she even degrade south industry like this? #shamehinakhan. Doesn’t she know a lot of Bollywood actors hv worked & are working in the south industry! Shame on you #hinakhan for trying 2demean us. As an actress from the south industry, I would like to say I am very proud to be from our south industry and whatever #hinakhan is saying is pure bullshit. #pleasegetyourtactsrightgirl (sic).”
