Thalapathy Vijay buys ‘Bhagavanth Kesari,’ but not remaking it?

A reliable industry source claims that Tamil superstar Vijay has bought the remake rights of the Telugu film ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ featuring Balakrishna and Sreeleela.

“He has indeed bought the remake rights but not doing an official remake. Few characters sounded similar to the original so the makers bought it unwilling to take any chances,” says the source and adds, “The relationship of Vijay and young actress Mamitha Baiju of ‘Premalu’ fame in the film is like a guardian and a young girl. Even the relationship between Balakrishna and Sreeleela in ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ also boasts of a noble relationship. But the story and screenplay are as different as chalk and cheese,” he adds.

Similarly, popular actress Pooja Hegde who is playing the female lead to Vijay is not reprising the role of Kajal Agarwal in the original. ‘Remake rumors were false and baseless because Vijay and Pooja have a good love track and songs, which were missing in the Telugu film. It is a straight Tamil subject loaded with romance and action,’ he points out.

Now, the ‘Leo’ actor is gearing up for his last film, which has been tentatively named Thalapathy 69 and he wants to deliver a banger at the box office. “It is a very unique and thought-provoking story with political undertones and bound to enthrall his legion of fans,” he adds. It is being directed by H Vinoth and bankrolled by the Kannada production company KVN Productions. Ace composer Anirudh Ravichander, while Bobby Deol plays a baddie.

Vijay’s dubbed movies like ‘Master’, ‘Varisu’ and “Leo’ made good money in two Telugu states and endeared him to Telugu audiences.
