Apart from the Bollywood actress Mandira Bedi, hotshot filmmaker Puri Jagannadh has also replaced two supporting actors in his upcoming production, Romantic.
Recently, when news broke about actress Ramya Krishna being part of Puri Jagannadh’s forthcoming production venture, Romantic, everyone thought it was just another announcement of an addition to the cast. But there was more to it than met the eye!
Apparently, Puri has replaced Mandira Bedi with Ramya Krishnan.
Sources say that the filmmaker took the decision to replace Mandira in the larger interests of the film.
Apparently, the filmmaker had even shot several scenes with Mandira Bedi, who had a pivotal role. However, as an afterthought, Puri felt someone like Ramya Krishnan, who is a familiar name in the South, would be more apt. He has now reshot all the scenes with Ramya.
Rumours are also rife that Puri wasn’t happy with the kind of impact Mandira created on screen. However, a source close to the film’s unit laughs that off, saying, “The decision to replace Mandira Bedi was mutual; the actress and the director have huge admiration for each other.”
The source further adds, “Post the super success of iSmart Shankar, Puri Jagannadh wanted to make sure that all his moves with regard to the film’s casting are in line with the script. He doesn’t want to leave anything to chance and give his detractors a reason to say iSmart Shankar was just a fluke.”
Starring Puri’s son Akash Puri and debutante Ketika Sharma, Romantic, directed by Anil Paduri, is produced by Puri Connects.
