Tollywood comes together for candle light walk in solidarity with Kolkata rape victim

Among females Jeevitha Rajasekar, art director Surpriya, writer Anuradha Umerjee, Karate Kalyani and others joined the event. “Most of the males do respect and support women barring a few lumpen elements. We are able to work freely in the industry despite being a male-domain due to good support," said Jeevitha Rajaekhar who participated in the walk. “I wish more people would have joined the walk since it was Tollywood organized programme,’ she adds.

She claims that girls have to be proactive, alert and have to be very shrewd to avoid unhealthy moments. “I want girls to be on the phone with a friend while travelling in a car or public transport and also to inform their whereabouts at least to their friends to be safe and secure ,” she informs and adds, “Even boys have some work to do. For instance, if there is a 10 member group, boys definitely know about one or two rogues in their group. They should spot them and send them to rehab since perversion and disrespecting women is a kind of mental illness, needs medical attention, If they cross the limits, the boys have to inform cops to make them mends their ways,” she adds

Not just girls and woman, every member of the society has a role to play in safeguarding women and in curbing untoward happenings, she concludes
