Majili will be a milestone in Naga Chaitanya’s career: Samantha
The real world couple Samantha and Naga Chaitanya have been paired on the screen, for the first time after their marriage, in their upcoming movie Majili. “We actually did not want to do a film together especially a love story after being married for two years. Honestly, I thought that if we did a love story now, not as many people would watch it. And that is when director Shiva Nirvana approached us with this story. The film not just expounds the husband-wife relationship, it focuses on families as a whole. The director has included a lot of beautiful moments and I feel truly blessed to be a part of Majili,” said Samantha.
The film is hitting the screens on April 5, and the actress says that it has been a memorable shooting experience for her. “When I pick a role, I pick a challenge. I prefer to do something that I have never done before because I want to push myself to improve. That is the motto — to be better than yesterday. So although my character Sravani does not speak much, she needs to portray great strength, which is the challenge,” she said. Samantha said that both she and her husband Chaitanya had discussed this film at home.
“We especially discussed the climax before hand. I’ve seen the film and I feel proud of Chay for his performance. He has improved in leaps and bounds as an actor and this is his best performance so far. For both Chay and Shiva, this film is going to be a milestone in their careers,” Samantha said.
The actress added that she never asked the director to make changes in the script. “When Shiva narrated the script to me, I gave it my approval immediately. If I say no, then it does not change even if the director then decides to make changes in the script. However, once I say yes, I trust the director fully with the script.” Her latest Tamil film Super Deluxe happened to release a couple of days ago and she has received positive reviews.
“I am happy personally and professionally, and I don’t worry much about my career as I am in a secure place now. Although earlier I’d feel like I should do four to five films a year, one good film with a hard-hitting performance makes me content now,” the actress concluded.
