The eagerly awaited OTT release of "Salaar" on Netflix has been confirmed with a staggering deal of Rs 162 crore for digital rights in all five languages. While anticipation grows, the official release date remains speculative. Recent buzz suggests a potential Netflix release in January, possibly coinciding with Sankranthi on January 12. However, no official confirmation has been provided by the filmmakers or Netflix. The usual rule is that a movie can be released on an OTT platform only 45 days after its theatrical release. However, if the movie is still running in theatres, then the digital platform must wait tll the end of its theatrical run.
The digital deal sets a record as the highest-ever OTT deal for a South Indian film, intensifying anticipation following the film's theatrical success since its December 22 release. Directed by Prashanth Neel, "Salaar: Ceasefire – Part 1" features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, and Sriya Reddy, among others.
While rumours circulate about a potential January release on Netflix, fans are also eager for the television premiere on the Star Maa channel. The film's box office success is evident, with an impressive collection of Rs 90 crore on its domestic premiere day and a global total of Rs 178 crore.
With a budget of reportedly Rs 270 crore, "Salaar" has become a box-office powerhouse, amassing a reported Rs 391 crore to date at the domestic box office.
