Quintessentially bad!
Hyderabad-based Charandeep, who acted in Sigaram Thodu, Jilla and Puli, has his kitty full with Raghava Lawrence’s Motta Siva Ketta Siva, Kreshna’s Veera and a couple of Telugu flicks. Says Charandeep, “I have always loved the actors and technicians here because I find them extremely humble. In fact, they are always willing to help their co-stars and have been generous enough to compliment people. For instance, Vikram Prabhu told me that my eyes are a big plus for me during the shoot of Sigaram Thodu. Not many do that to you.”
“In both the films, I play a negative character. Motta Siva.. is the remake of Pattas. So, I am playing the same character of what I did in the original,” he says.
The actor tells us how he considers Kollywood as his lucky charm. “Only after I signed Sigaram Thodu, I was roped in for Jilla and also I eventually bagged five more films in Telugu and Kannada,” he adds. A B Tech graduate with an MBA degree, Charandeep says he prepared himself well for a career in films well ahead of the past. “I weighed 110 kgs previously, but lost weight and developed a six pack. I learnt mixed martial arts, which helped me getting more offers,” he reveals.
As the lines between hero and villain thin, many actors find themselves attracted to the negative characters, as they are more interesting.” A villain’s character gives you a bigger ground to play in, unlike the good ones. You can be as eccentric as you like it to be. You don’t have to please everyone. Too much goodness can be boring. An overdose of negativity too can be repulsive,” he laughs.
Charan is open to playing them and he says he enjoys it the most. “I think the negative characters are unpredictable and will make the audience curious to know what they’re up to next. Many have this perception that I can easily act negative characters. But the truth is I have to do a lot of hard work to get into such characters, as in real life I am a completely different person. I realised that it’s not necessary for you to like it; the audience is more important, and if they like my negative character, then why not?” he smiles.
