Mahesh Babu’s subtle jab at Sukumar
The pre-release event of Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi opened with a grand fanfare on Wednesday at Necklace Road. In addition to the film’s cast and crew, several Tollywood celebrities attended the event. And while the actor took the occasion to praise a number of directors that he has worked with so far, he also took a subtle jab at Sukumar for his restless and flaky work ethic.
“It’s strange how some directors these days narrate a story to you, but if you’re not available, they approach another actor with the same script immediately afterwards. Director Vamshi Paidipally, on the other hand, waited nearly three years for my availability after narrating the script to me, and that speaks volumes about his commitment to his projects,”Mahesh said.
One may recall that Sukumar had announced a film with Mahesh Babu, but because the actor was busy with another project at the time, the filmmaker approached Allu Arjun and confirmed him in the role. Venkatesh and Vijay Deverakonda attended the event as special guests. “I may not be fond of the other heroes in the industry, but I love Venkatesh,” Mahesh said.
He then went on to praise Vijay Deverakonda for his work. On this occasion, Vijay revealed that Murari was the first time he saw Mahesh on the big screen and that he’s been a big fan of the actor ever since. “I don't know if I should address him as ‘sir’ or just Mahesh Babu. As a student, we’d call him Mahesh Babu. It’s odd now to add the suffix ‘sir’ after his name, but I must,” said the Geetha Govindam actor.
