I got used to shooting in the pandemic: Nabha Natesh

Actress Nabha Natesh wraps up Maestro shoot

Nabha Natesh recently wrapped up shooting for the Nithiin-starrer Maestro, the Telugu remake of the Hindi film, Andhadhun. “This is my first remake film, and it’s been fun shooting for this black comic thriller,” beams Nabha.

The Merlapaka Gandhi directorial was the fastest film she has finished so far, the actress says. “I started shooting around January and we wrapped up the majority of the work before the second wave of the pandemic hit us,” she reveals, adding that she was fortunate to sign this film during the lockdown.

“I already had two releases (Solo Brathuke So Better (SBSB) and Alludu Adhurs) despite the lockdown. So, I have nothing to complain about,” she smiles. The iSmart Shankar star says she was one of the first actresses to resume shooting after the lockdown. She started with Alludu Adhurs, moved on to SBSB, and followed up with Maestro. “I have got used to shooting in the pandemic now,” she jokes.

Nabha reveals that she had to unlearn a lot while working on Maestro. While she had watched Andhadhun when it was released, her biggest dilemma was whether to watch it again before going for the shoot. “I decided not to watch the film again, and instead go with how the director wanted me to look. It worked out well because he infused a fresh lease of life into my character,” says the actress.

Nabha has no worries about the looming comparison of her performance with that of Radhika. She points out that there are bound to be comparisons in any remake. “I gave my own spin to the character whilst retaining the soul and essence,” she explains.

Last December, Nabha had undergone a shoulder surgery. A month later, while she was still recuperating, she commenced shooting for Maestro, which involved several bike-riding sequences. The actress says shooting those sequences was challenging initially.

“In the original, my character is frequently seen riding a bike, with the hero sitting pillion, so I knew it would be a dicey. At times there were a lot of curves and roads were narrow, so my shoulder came under pressure. Nithiin too felt scared,” she laughs.
