Pretty actress Anushka Shetty, who is hailed as the torch bearer of female-centric movies in Tollywood, is returning with a comic-caper ‘Ms Shetty Mr Shetty’ also featuring Naveen Polishetty but its release is getting deferred.
The producers are holding discussions with buyers and some deal could come through soon. “Unlike in the past, Anushka movies are not selling like hot cakes and it is taking some time to clinch deals,” says a source and adds, “Meanwhile, the makers held a couple of shows to garner response from people in the industry and outside and are quite hopeful,” he adds,.
Actually, Anushka took a break to sort out her health issues and now she is making a comeback with a light-hearted flick that is causing some hiccups. Because Anushka is known for ‘larger-than-life' roles and seeing her in a softer role hasn’t generated necessary hype around the film.
“Anushka’s image has grown leaps and bounds after her scintillating performances in films like ‘Baahubali 2’ ‘Rudramadevi’ and ‘Bhagmathee’ where she can pull off challenging roles with consummate ease," he adds.
However, her rival and Tamil actress Nayantara is able to hold on to her enviable position and moving up the ladder and is now romancing hah Rukh Khan in ‘Jawaan’. "Anushka is equally talented but needs one author-backed role to bounce back,” he concludes.
