With action adventure Salaar on the verge of completion and all set to unleash the fiery side of Prabhas, the director of his next film has a tough task cut out for him.
It is known that Tollywood director Maruthi is gearing up to make a horror comedy with pan India star Prabhas titled Raja Deluxe. "The hangover of Salaar will loom large on his next release..So the director has to work doubly hard to deliver a terrific entertainer with Prabhas," says a source.
Elaborating on the hangovers from previous movies on stars, the source says, "After attaining unprecedented stardom post Baahubali, Prabhas's subsequent movies took a beating of sorts as they couldn't live upto the high expectations of the audience. Both Saaho and Radhe Shyam garnered mixed reactions. While the former did well in Hindi circuits, the latter turned out to be a disaster as people couldn't digest him in the simple role of a palmist who can predict the future. The actor's action image has to be sustained after Salaar which is going to show him as a dinosaur in action."
Hence director Maruthi has to infuse one or two action episodes to satisfy his fans. He will be showcasing his flair for comedy but only comedy would be bit risky, points out the source.
It is worth mentioning here that Maruthi has tasted success with comic capers like Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and Mahanubhavudu with Nani and Sharwanand respectively. "But Prabhas is a pan India star, so things have to be larger than life than usual hero stuff. A big challenge for Maruthi ahead," he concludes.
