Salaar' makers demand Rs 160 cr for Telugu theatrical rights?
If the deal comes through, reigning star Prabhas will become the highest-rated star in Telugu cinema, clearly outwitting the likes of Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun. “Salaar producers are demanding Rs 160 crores for theatrical rights in two Telugu states and few buyers are negotiating. It will be the highest ever business for a Telugu star in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, if they sell it for the whopping price,” says a distributor.
There is nothing to be surprised much because Prabhas’s earlier outing ‘Adhipurush’ was bought for Rs 120 crores in two Telugu states and distributors reportedly lost around Rs 30 crores. “Adhipurush was a different movie. It was a mythology and it didn’t draw a repeat audience whereas, ‘Salaar’ is a commercial film directed by Prashanth Neel, who delivered sensational hits like “KGF’. It is an action-packed adventure befitting the larger-than-life image of Prabhas. Besides, it has triggered a lot of buzz and is expected to draw unprecedented openings,” the distributor adds.
No doubt, the producers of Prabhas-movies are expanding his market value in various states including AP and TS. Prabhas is the new darling of distributors across India and no two ways about it.
