Megastar Chiranjeevi Turns Ruthless Thug for Bholaa Shankar?
After a long hiatus, megastar Chiranjeevi is going to showcase his ‘grey’ shades as a ruthless thug in his upcoming film ‘Bholaa Shankar’. The actor attained numero uno position with his larger-than-life and Good Samaritan roles in big-ticket movies like 'Gangleader,' ‘Indra,’ ‘Tagore’ and ‘Stalin." "Probably, Chiranjeevi wanted to break away from his established image and try out something new,” says a distributor and adds, ‘With new-age actors like Allu Arjun tasting success with a grey role in ‘Pushpa’, maybe Chiranjeevi also wanted to experiment with this shade to offer some variety to his huge fan following and audience alike. However, he transforms into a good-hearted brother towards the end, a kind of redemption,” he adds.
Megastar balanced a positive and a bit of a grey role in his earlier film ‘Khaidi No 156’ by donning a dual role, but in his upcoming remake of the Tamil film ‘Vedhalam’, he has to showcase both the contrasting emotions in one role and win the audience appreciation with his subtle performance.
“Roles with grey and dark shades is a new fad among Telugu heroes. Chiranjeevi who always played an upright, good hearted and inspiring character, is taking a new path," he points out.
In fact, Chiranjeevi played an innocent fisherman in his recent blockbuster 'Waltair Veerayya' who is cheated by his own friend (Prakash Raj) and the movie spun box office magic. "Big stars in innocent and honest roles always connect well with the masses," he concludes.
